I. GETTING STARTED
If you are reading this file you have already unzipped at least
one SUNPO file. If you havent unzipped them all, then do so before
proceding. The most straight forward startup process is to place ALL
of the SUNPO files in the same directory or on the same diskette.
Please note: Execution of SUNPO requires that the computer be
equipped with at least and 80286 cpu and an 80x87 math coprocessor
or equivalent (80486 for example).
II. RUNNING SUNPO
If you put all the SUNPO files on a single diskette or in the same
directory, then you can start SUNPO using the Windows File Manager.
Call up the File option from the file manager's menu bar and choose
Run. Then fill in YOUR path name to SUNPO131.EXE (A:\SUNPO131.EXE or
D:\SUNPO\SUNPO131.EXE for example) and select OK or press the ENTER
key on the keyboard. Look at the STARTUP item under the Help
command on the SUNPO menu bar for brief instructions on starting
an actual SUNPO calculation.
III. RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION
While some components of SUNPO can be placed in different directories,
the simplest thing to do is to put all of the files in a single SUNPO
directory. That makes removal simple.
Sample SUNPO Installation Procedure
This example assumes the following:
A) Your base Windows directory is C:\WINDOWS.
B) You will place all SUNPO files (EXCEPT SUNPO.INI, which MUST
be in your base Windows directory) in a NEW directory on fixed
drive D:
C) The (de-archived) SUNPO files are on a diskette in diskette
drive B:, and there are no other files on that diskette.
D) The installation will be done from DOS or a DOS Window, and that
your DOS "prompt" appears as C:\>
Note: in the following example the term <CR> means that you press the
"RETURN" or "ENTER" key.
1) Create the SUNPO directory:
C:\> MKDIR D:\SUNPO <CR>
2) Copy files:
C:\> Copy B:\SUNPO.INI C:\WINDOWS
C:\> Copy B:\*.* D:\SUNPO
3) Running or Preparing to Run SUNPO:
METHOD 1: a) Click on the Program Manager's "File" option and
select "Run".
b) Enter D:\SUNPO\SUNPO131.EXE and <CR>.
METHOD 2: (add SUNPO to an existing group of applications)
a) Click on (or TAB to) the title bar of the desired
group.
b) Select the Program Manager's "File" option, and then
"New".
c) Select "Program Item".
d) i) For the "Description" enter: SUNPO
ii) For the "Command Line" enter:
D:\SUNPO\SUNPO131.EXE
iii) For "Working directory" enter: D:\SUNPO
iv) Select "OK".
If all is well, then the SUNPO icon will appear in the program
group box and you can start SUNPO by clicking on that icon.
Before running SUNPO, you will probably want to customize it for
your geographical location. There are two ways to do that:
1) Edit the SUNPO.INI file to reflect your longitude, latitude and
time zone before starting the SUNPO application.
2) Simply go ahead and run SUNPO and enter your location and time
zone via the "Observer Position" option under the "Control"
menu item found on the main SUNPO menu bar. Once you select
"OK" you will be asked if you wish to save the new data in the
SUNPO.INI file. Choosing "Yes" will save the customized
SUNPO.INI file.
Consult "Help" on the main SUNPO menu bar for other brief hints.
It MAY BE wise to read the SUNPO.DOC file, however. It contains
additional information.
If you will NEVER want to examine SUNPO's graphs, you can omit
copying of the "GSW..." files (or delete them later).
If you already have a copy of GSW.EXE and GSWDLL.DLL in a directory
named in your AUTOEXEC.BAT's PATH= statement, then you can probably
save some diskspace by deleting GSW.EXE and GSWDLL.DLL from the
SUNPO directory. The GSW.. files PROBABLY must belong to at least
version 2.1, however.
SUNPO is a copyrighted program. See the SUNPOxxx.DOC file for
information regarding registration as well as information about
the MOONPO program available from the developer of SUNPO.
